Insect Resistance Program

Athenix scientists are experts in developing proprietary solutions for insect control in crops.

We screen our extensive microbial collection by using phenotype-based assays, genomics, and proteomics. Athenix research has uncovered more than 60 new Bt genes, creating one of the largest collections of novel insecticidal genes in the industry. The initial targets of this collection are European corn borer, corn rootworm, cotton Lepidoptera and rice Lepidoptera.

Resistance management, which has been mandated by the EPA, will continue to drive the need for multiple classes of proteins targeted against a given pest species. To meet EPA requirements, Athenix provides new insecticidal proteins with novel modes of action.
