Athenix has developed two breakthrough technologies critical to developing a transgenic solution to this ubiquitous plant pest.

The first enables us to identify potentially toxic interactions between microbial and nematode proteins.

The second allows in vitro screening of gene products directly against soybean cyst nematodes to confirm toxicity.

Combined, these technologies have yielded numerous genes with demonstrated toxicity to nematodes. Currently, the efficacy of these genes is being validated in model plants. The best performing genes will be put into soybeans for commercial development.
